Privacy Policy

Who we are

SpecsDrop ("we", "us") runs this website. For any privacy question or request, email hello@specsdrop.co.in. We act as the Data Fiduciary for the limited personal data described below, under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

• Nothing you type is stored. Searches, filters and comparisons run in your browser. They show up in the page address (for example /compare?p=…) so you can share them, but we don't save them against you.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider automatically records technical details of each request: IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These are used to keep the site secure and working, and are deleted on the provider's normal schedule.
• Emails you send us. If you write to us, we keep your email address and message so we can reply.

We don't ask for your name, phone number or payment details, and we don't sell personal data.

Visitor statistics

• Vercel Web Analytics. We count visits and see which pages are popular, plus general details such as country, device type and browser. This uses no cookies and doesn't identify you. Visitors are counted using an anonymous value that changes every day and can't be linked back to you.
• Public view counts. Pages may show how many times they have been viewed. We only store the running totals for each page, not who viewed them or their IP address. To avoid counting the same page twice when you reload, your browser keeps a small note in its session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab.

Cookies

SpecsDrop itself does not set advertising or tracking cookies. If we add advertising in future, we will update this page and, where required, ask for your consent first.

Links to shops

Some links take you to retailers such as Amazon and Flipkart. Some of these are affiliate links (see our Affiliate Disclosure). When you follow one, the retailer may set its own cookies to record that you came from SpecsDrop. What happens on their site is covered by their privacy policies, not ours.

Service providers

• Website hosting, delivery and Web Analytics (Vercel), which processes the server logs and statistics described above.
• Upstash, which stores the page view totals (numbers only).
• Database hosting (for example Supabase), which stores phone data only, not visitor data.

These providers may process data outside India. We only use providers that protect it under their own published terms.

Your rights

You can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can also withdraw any consent you gave. Email hello@specsdrop.co.in and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

SpecsDrop is a general audience site. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
